Fresh from the manufacturer, these fantastic oxygen powered heaters are designed to emit a consistent amount of heat for over 60 hours and are extremely helpful for shipping live aquarium plants nationwide during the winter. We will package these with your plants to maximize the consistency and duration of heat so plants are not damaged by excessive heat and the warmth is extended for as long as possible.
This particular UniHeat model gets warm faster and achieves a higher initial temperature than the 72 hour type making them particularly useful for the punishing northern climate where lots of warmth may be needed quickly. They are designed to maintain a temperature of 38C (100F) for at least 60 hours before the it begins to drop. Used with our packaging and insulation, they are capable of warming the inside of our packages significantly and will make a huge difference for your aquarium plants.
These are extremely effective as a protection against marginal conditions where packages are exposed to sub-freezing temperatures for a limited amount of time. They have been tested to dramatically decrease D.O.A. incidents and improve the condition of your plants. When used with a true express courier service such as Purolator or UPS, your plants are likely to arrive still warm even after short delays.
Natural disasters and complete system breakdowns have occurred with Canada Post "Express" services (Xpresspost) where no amount of insulation or heat packs can prevent damage if packages are subjected to extreme and prolonged abuse. Though these incidents are fairly uncommon and our heaters will dramatically decrease the likelihood of frost damaged plants even with Xpresspost, we continue to recommend the use of true express couriers (Purolator or UPS) especially in the winter.
